Prime of our lives
Prime of our BonBonerie Lives
Besides holding Easter in its palms, which is one of my favorite holidays, this April is also special because it’s a great year for BonBonerie to celebrate. Why? Because we are in the PRIME of OUR LIFE. My brother Peter is a bit of a mathematics devotee. He uses it in his life’s work as an architect, but when I told him this would be our 43rd year in business, he immediately said well that’s a prime number. Suddenly my mind took off in so many directions. It’s an odd number (double entendre not intended) and I thought why should we wait for the 45th or 50th to say what a grand time we have had.
I am not actually good at remembering dates. One year my husband and I went on a fancy vacation to celebrate our 25th anniversary, but it was actually our 24th. Just so you know, I am actually good at fractions and measuring for recipes, however, it’s just the dates of things that throw me off.
So, our celebration of our forty-third PRIME year in business will begin this week and continue through the end of May. Beginning this Wednesday April 23rd, (another prime number) every time a customer chooses the number 43 from the numbers at the door, they will receive a complimentary cookie or miniature pastry.
There will also be a raffle you can enter where thirty-one guests (had to be another prime number) will be chosen to attend an Afternoon Tea Soiree where Co-Founders Sharon Butler and Mary Pat Pace will be there to host and answer any questions you may have about our history. You may enter this via Facebook or personally at the Bakery and Cafe.
We will also be posting archival pictures and stories and even menus from days gone by. Maybe we will even post a few archival recipes upon request. I encourage you to share any insights, pictures or stories you have as the next six weeks go by. I would LOVE to hear about them. All of your joy in what we do has been a primary motivation for us to still be here.
