Pink is for Valentine's Day
When I saw the cupcakes Megan had finished decorating for the bakery, I was thrilled that I had caught her in time for a picture. Look! Her shirt even matches the icing on the cupcakes, It was perfect.
These colors get me so excited ! Taking a walk last evening I noticed that the sky was a beautiful shade of coral pink, just like our heart cookies are this year. At the present exhibition at the Taft Museum, I read that the Masons believed red is the color of the divine, white is wisdom, but pink, the blending of both is the color of love, beauty, and the unfolding of the soul's potential. I feel the same way about pink. It’s my very favorite Valentine’s Day color. And it’s all over BonBonerie and our cookies, cakes and pastries for the next two weeks!
You’ll also find doilies and ribbons and flowers adorning every nook and cranny. I encourage people to send Valentine cards or to drop off a simple heart cookie with a ribbon tied on top to all your favorite people including neighbors, the Amazon delivery man or your favorite cafe server. It’s a good day to just love and appreciate humanity.
We can help you to share your affection with a hand decorated Valentine heart, a bag of sugared pink and red cookie jewels, fanciful chocolate rose cupcake or a French strawberry torte. Do something sweet for someone this year. Everyone appreciates even a small token of affection in our ever tumultuous world and I can guarantee you that after 43 years making Valentine pastries that a tiny gift goes a very long way to make someone’s day, as Holly at the counter would say ”a little sweeter”. And that can be just the right amount.
