Enjoying your Opera Cream Torte
The Opera Cream Torte has been our signature cake for over 30 years. It's different than most cakes you'll find at other bakeries, or pretty much anywhere! Its rich, dense, chocolate chip-studded texture means that when consumed cold, the cake firms up and can taste dry. The Opera Cream needs to be eaten at room temperature, which is when it tastes its absolute best (make sure to refrigerate leftovers). Many people tell us that the best Opera Cream they've ever had was served at a wedding - and that cake was likely sitting out for 3 hours to get to the perfect temperature!
Want to know how long you should leave out your Opera Cream? Here's a quick guide:
Slice of cake or cupcake: 15 minutes
6" & 9" cake: 2 hours
11" or tiered cake: 3 hours
Larger than 11" cake: 4+ hours
We do NOT recommend microwaving your cake. Even a moment too long will melt the delicate opera cream filling and ruin the cake.
